selling my car guys

i just dont use it anymore, almost at all...
i used to autocross it,drive it w top down, top up, winter...all of it.
now i think i need just a whatever car hahaha
when its nice out, or at least past the 50 degree mark (for me when top comes off) i take the bike out.
ive been riding my bike more and more now, and just dont drive the car.
i hated it that i couldnt take it snowboarding over the winter, or really drive it right since its ridiculously low... Me and Nick carved it out a few times over the winter :)
ill be probably looking at a newer S4, e55, or SLK55 or perhaps e46 m3...or something along those lines that i can stick a snowboard in and drive (although not really set on any of them that much, with exception of S4 since i really still want manual, would be nice to get all wheel drive, and enough room to stick the board in, and i know that i cant leave anything alone, and theres plenty of mods for S4). I watched wheeler dealers last night, and i got an urge for the older style 911 too hehehe

kinda sad, but i love my car and want it to be driven instead of just sitting in my garage. theres actually lots of dust on it from me not driving it hahaha, totally unlike me, but the R1 kicks my a$$ and i cant stop riding it.

all that being said, im selling the headlights (litronics), most likely the exhaust too...rest i will just leave w the car to pull some value along with the hard top.

Good luck, DJ. As you know, the car market is terrible right now. Especially for modded cars and unique colors.

djomlas 06-03-2009 06:25 AM

mine blends right in man, what u talking bout? :D

crios 06-03-2009 11:12 AM

Why don't you raise it back to stock and install a rack like below?

It would be cheaper than selling.

sad

WOW, I never thought I would hear you say you where going to sell.

I still drive mine, I am now over 170,000 miles, but I do understand what you are saying I bought a SUV on the cheap side to drive when I travel and on bad days.
Or to haul things more than a lunch box.

djomlas 06-03-2009 12:55 PM

yeah, never tought i would say that either
but man, no joke its jsut sitting there in garage, while im paying insurance, not being driven, collecting dust hahaha

on the other hand, that tells you how good of a machine that freggin R1 is man
and as always, i dumped more money into it than what i should have

Love that show! I watched last night as well and got the same urge. Of course I wanted a 928 after they featured that car, etc. I also like their other show, Auto trader. I dig the British colloquialisms.

Best of luck unloading the car.

So sad... ;)

Good luck with selling your car!

I've had my car for 3 and a half years and I'm enjoying it more than ever! I'm autocrossing as much as I can (and still pass my grad school classes) and am having a blast modifying the suspension. I had no idea what this car was capable of until I lowered it and and stiffened it (I beat the blue 911 if you remember the car?) and I think there is more to go.

crios. What's that rack

Crios,

What kind of bike rack do you have hanging on the back of the box? Where did you get it?

Looks like the rack from Willwood System but with standard bike holders rather than the carriers Will makes. I have the same thing and really like it.

Jeph 06-03-2009 09:46 PM

Well, when it's time, it's time. I'm just glad that I actually met the celebrity of a car.
How much do you hope to get for it?

I have that same type of rack that I use on another car, Sold by a company named Hollywood. Very nice, light and secure setup.

Frodo 06-04-2009 03:42 AM

DJ, you can't sell that thing, man!

What are you going to use for a foreground subject for your changing-of-the-seasons photos? (Yeah, the bike's nice---but it just ain't the same!)

I don't think its worth it to sell in this market. Not one bit. I can not think of a worse time to be a seller of a Porsche. Unless you really need the money you're getting the wrong end of a deal on a sale right now. I would sooner trade it (tough to do I know...) or stick in long term storage until you have the funds to dump a 3.8x50 engine in it.
I sold my last car (heavily mod'd Miata) because someone offered me a great deal. In retrospect I really didn't need the money (wasn't enough to make a huge difference to me) and there really wasn't anything out there that would provide a similar level of satifisfaction for the equal amount of dinero. That car would have lasted forever no matter how many autocross or DE's I submitted it to. No wonder the new owner had such a big smile as he drove away with it.

Jeph 06-04-2009 06:36 PM

Today is the youngest & lowest mileage it will ever be.

Why? Why do people say this? Do they presume the value to go up at some point? Cars aren't the stock market. They seem to either depreciate, or depreciate quickly.

Does that mean he should let it rack up more miles and/or get older... Then sell it? I say sell now, cuz that thing ain't going up in value. That's just me though.

djomlas 06-05-2009 04:52 AM

yeah , its not gonna go up in the value.
I really dont need the money, and am really not in a hurry to sell it. The only thing is that i dont drive it, i ride the bike, and if its ****************ty or winter out i drive the G6 to work and back just couse i dont wanna mess with no traction control or RWD and all that. Although, on a cold day when its not raining i take it out, but somehow i just lost the passion for driving that ever since riding the bike for so long, plus i fill up the bike for $6 hahaha

I really cant loose money on it, almost no matter how bad the economy is.
Do you think 15 grand is asking too much? maybe 14?

Sammy, MAN that is awesome, couse that guy is a monster when it comes to autoX.
give me a buzz or email me next time u go around here, im maywood maybe, couse no way im going to Gary IN hahaha (sold my gun) :) but yeah man, that is just sweet that you got that good. i wonder how me and Nick would do if we kept on at it, but i bailed out while i was beating him and ill stick to that hahahhahhaah

Perfectlap 06-05-2009 08:48 AM

well my buddy is shopping a 2.5 for the track/racing and he's seen all sorts. Some real garage queens and some dogs. The highest he's told me about so far is $9K.
I thought we saw a black 99 back in January go for $12k with very low miles. BoxsterS's with about 40K miles are going for around $15K. Since credit became tough to get in November I've never seen a steeper drop in basically all Porsches.
If anything I would be tempted to sell the 2.5 but "average in" with a 996 C4 if winter driving is necessary. At least you get the upside of the ****************ty market as a buyer.
