New hood crest

what do you all think of this? i can't tell if it's metal or plastic..

on my ocean blue metallic with black interior - i thought it might look cool.

either this, or just get the silver OEM one. My gold one is loose, and every time i look at it, i just think it looks like it's the 'wrong' color for my car.

You might need some crackers for that cheese! :)

A silver crest would be very nice. The Porsche crest is pretty iconic. The one you posted it too much of a divergence, IMHO.

Nah... I'd stick with the original gold. My car is blue too. BTW, it's easy to tighten the crest from below.

A lot of people would dream to have the color crest on their car's hood.

I like the silver but it only matches well with certain body color.

A high quality OEM silver crest can be bought from www.bumperplugs.com for $180. I've not seen these at other sites to compare pricing. Except the eBay crap.

^^^^^

I've had their silver crest for a few years. Very nice quality!

Is it just me or does the black crest have a Special Ops / govt black helicopter feel to it?

urban_legend 06-03-2009 06:47 PM

How many box tops did it take

and does it come with a whistle?

Sammy 06-03-2009 07:34 PM

I think it might look good on my basalt black???

Jeph 06-03-2009 09:09 PM

That can't be metal. In fact, to me it looks like it's rubber. Is that a patch for a leather jacket?

It'd look ok on a "murdered out" Boxster, but nothing else in my opinion.

maybe with some details

Maybe more people would like it with a few details. You could paint the bars red etc.

Personally, I changed out my gold for a silver on Seal Grey. I and my eyes are much happier.

Looks like something my daughter made out of clay...

Me no likey.

dont get me wrong but gold crest is the only way to show off your exotic porsche

unless you can afford diamond crest:)

rick3000 06-06-2009 05:53 PM

I do not like the way that crest looks. It looks cheap compared to the gold (or even the silver) crest. Just my $0.02.

The black crest has an aftermarket feel to it, not genuine. The silver one does too, I noticed the thick clunky silver line going through the mane and the extra skinny legs on the horse compared to the oem one, I'd stay with the original.

The silver looks good on the right color. Your hood crest can be tightened, there's two 8 or 10mm crush nuts on the back. Be careful not to overtighten it or you're likely to bust the studs off the crest. You could also replace the rubber gasket, they tend to crack out after a few years.

$180 for the silver crest is pricey but, I might just have to buy one. :p
