Z-top Installation Starts Today

Hey guys, I'm starting my Z-art top install today and I'm having trouble locating the first part listed under "Parts to be fitted on hatch door"

The important thing here is to follow the instructions CAREFULLY. Don't use GOOD gaslift top brackets ... use SHîT ones ONLY!!

I had to check...yep...I got 2 of them, too.

Wait until you stumble over corner rubbers and super glue

Are these things Chinese knock-offs of a real Z-Art, or are Chinese Z-Art the real thing?

Misspellings aside.

Did you receive 3 gaslift strut/shocks? (1 long and 2 short)

The short ones go on your trunk hinges that you are transferring and the long one mounts to the brackets molded into the top and hatch.

I checked my parts box, I only received normal/good gaslift top brackets. But then I don't think I want to use the ones specified anyway.

Well..."Chinese" is obviously used in both of your questions. As far as I know, the Z-Art Tops are now being produced in China instead of South Africa, with minor improvements. Don't expect German built quality, sadly! I replaced some parts/screws/hinges/Brake lights etc. with new Porsche or OEM parts...that doesn't cost a fortune. But I will try the supplied gaslifts

Wow!

And to think, you could have bought a Cayman.

LOL...yeah, but who wants a Cayman if you can have a 986 THE MOST VERSATILE PORSCHE ever built.
CAYMAN-SPYDER-BOXSTER...all-in-one solution, with in-build 911/996 roots...what was Porsche thinking to create such a jack-of-all-trades???

There was no Cayman in 2000, it was either 996 or 986...and I fell in love with the 986, weird
