I doubt any performance claims due to the K&N

folks, air flow through the filter isn't the limitting factor in terms of hp. It's the throttle openning that is the biggest determinant in terms of power in these cars....

I am a pcar newbie, but I believe these cars are drive by wire, and have a certain air-fuel mixture that is predetermined by the ECU.

If the MAF measures more air coming thru the intake, then it will slightly close the throttle to reduce the air, or add fuel ... to recorrect to the programmed air-fuel mixture....

That is why in everyday driving, I doubt u'll notice an increase. I have K&N filters in my vehicles just cause they are cheaper in the long run..... however, I did have to clean a MAF on my 1.8T Jetta recently.....

The only time that the filter might be creating more power is at WOT, when the throttle is being pinned by the computer....

(assuming that the boxsters are drive by wire......)

Hopefully a '01 S owner within a few weeks - long distance, online shopping....

Peter
