Nice roads in NC

I drove from Columbus Ohio to Clayton North Carolina last night and I kept thinking of 2 things. 1.) wish I had the Boxster on the drive through Virginia and West Virginia and 2.) WOW the roads are smooth in NC - not a single pot hole! I want to move to NC!

There are some spectacularly great twisties in the western part of the state. Including a section of I-40 between Asheville and Knoxville, TN.

Here on the coast there are some nice, mostly flat, back roads, but nothing like the west.

And I still miss the PCH and cruising the Pacific Coast. Here the dunes block most of the ocean views.

Is there really a Surf City North Carolina - Some day I'll move to NC and drive the Boxster year round!

Yes Steve, there really is a Surf City in NC. On Topsail Island just north of Wilmington.

The fun roads in the west unfortunately are wintry too often for me. But great in the summer.

So buy a beach house and a mountain cabin. Rent out the beach in summer and the cabin in winter. Best of two worlds.
