Boxster Coupe?
Is it true that Porsche is coming up with the Boxster Coupe in 2007?

Yes I have seen some spy photos. I think it will look very much like a smaller carrera coupe.
Could be very cool.

Cool I can't wait. The name "Cayman" doesn't sound too cool though, and I hope its priced similarly to the Boxster.

I heard that Porsche has confirmed the name Cayman as the name for the new coupe. It will sit above the Boxster in terms of price, and will initially only be offered in the S version with 280PS.
From the pictures it looks fantastic, and shows another timeless design that won't age. If I lived in a colder climate, I would be seriously tempted, but living in Oz, means that the hood can stay down for most of the year!

Assuming that is a real photo and not a photoshoped one, I am a little surprised with the way the top is. I would imagine this car is going to have crazy bad blind spots. I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t see anything out the side of my car when the top is up. This look like it is going to be just as bad. I would have thought that they would have put some glass triangles behind the seats to give better visibility.

a boxster coupe?? i dunno, isnt the idea of boxster with box engine and ster for roadster...
I never seen a coupe roadster before so how can it still have the name boxster or is caman the name or is cayman the nickname as i read it was just a nickname.
So it will be the 987 cayman?? who would buy a boxster coupe when you can have a 987 with a softtop???
also i see what you mean about the blind spots...
tut tut a boxster coupe .... talk about spinning the cash

what I hate most with this car is that it promotes the idea that the Boxster is the "little" Porsche...
Well, the Boxster is a roadster, not a little Porsche. Not a 911, a different product...\
But to put a roof back on the a roadster...that is....hmmh...questionnable...
On top of that, IMHO, that picture looks ugly....yawk...the 911 back is a billion times better...I can't imagine it will be that ugly....

Boxster Coupe?
AutoSpies.com has a pack of "spy" and "computer generated" coupe photos, including a opposite-lock, full drift one from AutoCar. Rumors say Cayman is the name, and the lineup will include a 300hp Club Sport version.
The Box coupe looks very 911-ish, and from what I have heard will carry a very 911-ish price tag as well.

QporscheQ, give this a try I bought it right away, its the only way to overtake on the highway ($20) I wish they made a passenger side mirror.
At night I look for headlights in the little mirror since its hard to see the car itself.
A must have.

The 987 coupe spy photo I saw in Excellence a few months ago seemed to have much more pronouced rear fender curves. The prototype was flat black and the wheels were also black. very sick.

I sure hope they don't name it Cayman. Sounds too close to Gayman...no offense to any of you who are. It's just not a very cool name for a sportscar.

If it has a race related name, shouldn't it be raced first? A non-drop top Boxster is like pizza without pepperoni. What's the point? There are tons of good coupes in the Boxster's price range, and for a few more $$$ you can have a 911. For the same money, you can have a hardly used 2-3 year old 911. In that light the choice, I think, is painfully clear.

You have a point on the 911 coupe, which is a beauty to drive and look at. On the other hand, I am curious to see how this Box coupe will actually look. I just think of the Cayman islands when I hear this name and that doesn't do it for me.

I heard it was Porsches attempt to make a factory "hardtop" car to be raced in GT4 class.

If that is the case, they should just call it the "GT4" and put a GT4 badge on the back. I think Cayman sounds stupid also, and I would be shocked if that name is actually used. It doesnt make me want to go out and buy the car, however GT4 would get met at least thinking about it.

I agree cayman Gayman... I am sure this gayman will stick among the anti porsche a little bit like boxster is a poor mans porsche.. blah blah ect..
again you will hear this from people.. funny the people who say boxster is poor mans porsche dont seem to have a secure job, no income and a crap car....
I mean i just cant see anyone buying this when as stated above you can have a 911 for the same price.. a porsche without a softtop can ONLY be compensated by 400+bhp but i doubt that very much!
you either have a power house or a softtop, there is no middle ground with porsche or the FAMOUS porsche is about to enter the same ground as BMW with under powered hardtops that cling for life onto the porscha logo!
