I was told by a Porsche salesperson (a knowledgeable one, not a village idiot) that neither of the 987 models had the new block. The 3.4 has direct injection, but it's still got an IMS. Only the 911's got the new block.

I am content to drive my 986 until the all-new bodystyle comes out with the 911 motor in it.

Mark, another forum member and a buddy of mine, drove a 2009 Carrera on track day in December and said he did not like the PDK tranny and really hated the way the new motor sounded. He compared it to a giant sewing machine or something akin to that.
