whats it worth $$
I have a very sharp 98 silver boxster with some mods ,rare dansk triple tip exhaust ,complete aero kit deck lid ,side skirts etc,18" chrome wheels ,cross drilled rotors, lowering springs, updated tail lights ,+ more ,new top ,86 k miles ,I would say mine is worth $13000 to $14500 if I am lucky ,thinking that is close to what your car is worth ?,funny I just bought a rust free 72 914 2.0 got a great deal on it ,the nada book says it books for as much as my boxster

DJ,
If you look at Kelley Blue Book :
$10,325 trade in
$12,250 private party
$15,550 retail
If you look at Nada Guide :
$9,050 rough trade in
$10,675 average trade in
$12,050 clean trade in
$14,375 clean retail
There are 76 - 1998 Boxsters for sale in the US on AutoTrader :
Highest Price : $22,000
Lowest Price : $10,800
Average Price : $14,530
According to Edmunds :
$9,114 trade in
$10,677 private party
$12,696 retail
So, I would say your car is worth :
$10,500 if you trade it in
$12,500 if you sell it yourself
$14,500 is what a dealer would probably sell it for
My big question is, if you get rid of it, what are you going to replace it with ?
Nick

DJ...why, why, why? You are just going thru what Nick went thru last winter when his mind is busy looking at 911's....you're experiencing what they called winter blues syndromes...LOL
You put so much energy and time on your car..who ever the next owner, would be a lucky one. Good Luck

Here's one discouraging thing I found out about the Maserati's... although parts are cheaper than a Ferrari and you can do yourself a HUGE favor in buying a manual versus the F1 transmission there are still some issues.
#1 - Just try to find a manual. There are only like 2 out of 50 under $40K on Autotrader.
#2 - Parts can still be just silly expensive. When you do go to change the clutch on the manual you'll probably want to put in a throw out bearing. Price on our Boxster from Pelican Parts? $22 Price from a discounted Maserati parts dealer for a Coupe? $475 Just the clutch is 6X the Boxster price too. Crazy man... At least it's better than the F1 transmission that HAS to be done at a dealer for ~$3,500

good point, but with over a dozen manual cars i had, i had no need to replace any clutch parts. so unless previous owner messed it up it might have to be changed, otherwise im sure it will be fine (that being the only concern of course)

Range Rover?
Best thing about a Range Rover is that the minute (well, maybe two or three days later) you own one, its reliability (or more accurately, lack thereof) will cure you of that desire forever. :ah:
