To replace exhaust is it safe to only use 2 jack stands?

I've never put my Boxster on jack stands. I recently acquired some Maxspeed Headerss with Cats and secondary bypass pipes. It seems like a pretty simple straight forward installation. I've read through all the posts on jacking and I couldn't find any answers concerning using only 2 jack stands. I have a hydrolic floor jack and two jack stands capable of supporting 3 tons each. Is it safe enough to only jack up the rear of the car or am I asking for trouble? The idea of being under 3000lbs scares the crap out of me.

Thanks,

Tim
