Buying OIL and Filter in Canada

Hi all, I just called the dealer go have filter and oil for my 99 Boxster, 30$ filter (only the cartridge no housing) and 10$/L for some 540 Syn recomanded oil (total something, Blend from Europe). I am sure I could have these stuff cheaper than the dealer. Any suggestion in Canada?

I found an oil list here : http://kiyor32.cocolog-nifty.com/gt3/Approved-Oil-List-2006.pdf
I wonder If I could just call car parts around the town to see if they can find me oil and filter?

what do you think?

Thanks

P.S. I am sure this subject been plenty covered in the past, but I din't find any thead about finding it with resonable price in canada..

Do you have a PartsSource local to you? If so they can get everything you need through a Altrom supplier.

Mobil 1

Why not Mobil 1 from WalMart/Canada? It's $41.77 for 5 liters.

Cool Oil and filter in Canada

it's just unfortunate that prices here in canada just does not justify it, compared to prices in the U.S. could be due to duties/higher taxes/bigger market volume etc.. and all the crap that goes with it.. you just have to do a lot of research, and sometimes will just have to swallow the cost here. Unless you have a way of ordering through the numerous parts/dealers in the States and have an address in the U.S. that you can go and pick it up yourself.. otherwise you will be killed with all kinds of duties and taxes that would not make it worthwhile..
watch out sales at PartSource(Canadian Tire) for Mobil 1 (0-40w).. Walmart does not carry this oil weight when they have a sale.. for oil filters there are no other way but the dealer..
hope this helps.

www.autopartsonlinecanada.com has oil filters for $15.95 CAD

Euro Parts etc Canada at www.europartsetc.com has free shipping on orders over $75

Best Price Auto Parts at www.bestpricecarparts.com has filters for $14CAD and free shipping on orders over $75

autopartsonlinecanada.com also carries oil filters.

I haven't used any of these online places yet but I'll be placing an order soon.

For Mobil 1 I found it at Parts Source, but call ahead to make sure they have it in stock. I cleaned them out last year and they only had enough to do one of my cars.

Here in Toronto Mobile 1 can also be picked up through the main distributors warehouse.

Here is a list of distributors in Quebec

I usually buy the OEM filter at Porsche - at about $26, it's cheaper than the Mahle or Bosch boxed ones that the jobbers sell.

Wal Mart Canada doesn't typically stock 0W40 Mobil 1, at least in the Ottawa area. Partsource does, but they charge close to $10/L. I usually end up going to the US at least once a year, so I just pick up my 0W40 down there for about $5-6.50/L.
