Bizarre question

Hi all

This is going to sound quite bizarre but do any of you know if you can fit a tow ball to a Boxster? If so, how, since the exhaust is in the centre?

I used to tow quite a bit, including a 26 ft Sundancer @ 6500 lbs behind a Mercury Mountaineer which I thought was pushing it. I wish you the best of luck but think the Boxster will suffer greatly towing anything, it's just not designed for that in any regard.

I read a alot about this a while back. In my opinion th ebest design is this one:

I have seen people towing two jet skis with a Boxster, but most people tow a trailer with autocross gear. The weight of the trailer is not the problem, its the tongue weight you need to worry about.

That's only partially true, sure the tongue weight is very important in it's reaction with the suspension, I had to put air shocks on the truck to compensate for how soft a Mountaineer is sprung. However, where I disagree with you is in negotiating hills, you will feel the entire towing weight going up or down.

I agree, you will definitely feel it, but if your trailer is less than 1000 lbs. you shouldn't have a problem. YIt depends on the trailer's weight, but if the trailer is light it would be no different than having a passenger and both trucks completely full.

Thanks for replies guys. It would only be a small boat and more likely a jetski. Do you think this would still be a problem?

I doubt you will have a problem with a small boat or jetski. If it is mostly flat and you aren't driving up a mountain you should be fine. Post a picture when you do it.
