Contact windrestrictor. They make custom replacements for the 986 and can tell you how to safely separate the wind stop from frame.

There was a company a few years back which made replacements from safety glass, tinted or clear, even offered frosted Logo as an option. Apparently, there wasn't a sufficient market for them and the company's website has been down for more than a year.

Except for it's weight advantage (minimal), I like the idea of using safety glass, easier to clean w/o scratching. I'm tempted, when the economy eventually shapes up, to remove mine, trace a template, and then have a local glass co. make one from safety glass - I've discussed this with them and they say it can be done. I'll probably stay with the clear.

I've got a tinted/smoked Windrestrictor wind stop. It seriously is maybe a 5 minute install if you go real slow. Works the same as stock, just darker. No frame damage.

I really like the idea of glass. No scratching and hypothetically shouldn't rattle the way the plastic does.
