The dog is a lot more on key than my dad. It will be a miracle if we get there without my dad rearending somebody. He is so impatient and keeps jamming on the breaks

How fast (or slow) is traffic moving? The pictures I've seen don't look like things are moving very fast. How far do you have to travel?

Did you ziplock bag your shoes?

I hope it ends well. You should have zip-loc'd the Boxster! We need extra large space bags for cars. That way the water won't ruin good cars.

And try your best not to go postal (Or student).

You made the right move LB. Good luck to you and others out there, and hope that very soon you will be back home driving your boxster with the top down!

Glad to hear you got out safely. Trust that your car will be fine. Gustav looks like a whopper though.

ekam,
Good one! I think I pulled a muscle in my abs laughing so hard.

I thought of you the other day and I hope your baby survives OK. I had fun in town 2 weeks ago, but I can't say I'm ready to move there!

Hope you, your family and your dog (dogs?) are safe and doing well, LB.

Ditto your Boxster. Along with you, your family and the rest of those affected by the hurricane, it too will be in my thoughts. But NOT the shoe and purse collection...I'll leave THAT to the women of the forum. (Sorry. I'm a guy, ya know---I gotta draw the line somewhere.)

Ahh, there's my Heineken guy!

Well, we're here in the middle of nowhere in Zachary, LA. I lost my BlackBerry signal when I got here but now I'm able to get on WiFi. Thankfully my mom convinced my brother to evacuate too so I won't be worried about him, just my car. I brought the purses and shoes with me in a big plastic bin. When I was loading it in the car my dad was like, "What in the hell is in here?" We have two dogs with us. Now just waiting to hear what is going to happen with the storm and trying not to go insane staying with my parents and brother and two dogs in a little country house.

So sad that this has to happen to the most interesting and unique city in this country. I've visited N.O. three times and just love it. The absolutely unbelievable restaurants, the fantastic music (I just love The Subdudes and The Radiators), and the beautiful architecture of the French Quarter! Glad to hear that you are safe! I hope everything works out for you!
