Oil Leak help - not RMS / IMS

Guys,
I need some help. I've got a really small oil leak and it's not the RMS / IMS area of the engine, I think. The area of the leak is on the passenger side of the engine just below the exhaust and it's coming from a part that is connected to the engine block. Is this an external oil pump that it's leaking from?

Any help is appreciated. If someone has a link to a schematic I can figure out the part that's leaking at the seal.

Thanks,
-Steve

Have you gotten the car up on a lift yet? If not, suggest it for proper diagnosis.

COULD be the valve cover gaskets?????

I put the car up on jack stands and got under it and that's what I found. Yeah, a lift might tell me more. I looked from the top down and it looks clean but it does appear to be leaking at the seal of that part hanging off the engine on the pass side but I'm pretty sure it's not the RMS / IMS.

the most common oil leaks next to IMS/RMS are, in order of frequency:

1. the bolts that hold the oil return pumps in the heads
porsche has a TSB on these; the cure is to replace the bolts w/ microencapsulated bolts.

2. spark plug tubes
cure is to replace the spark plug tube w/ new

3. valve cover gasket
cure is to remove the valve cover, clean, and re-seal. this is a total pain in the ass and requires special tools. let it leak.

your first picture looks like it could be number one.

I agree with you 100% on the bolts, I'll look into the TSB.

Any idea how to get a printout of the TSB? The web sites like alldata want to charge you a fee and I'm too cheap!

Thanks a ton - this helps!
