I have a boxster very similar to you, 03 2.7l, 49k miles. I took it for a 700 mile road trip and it was pretty much flawless. I didnt check anything except the tire pressure and oil and had no problems or worries. wipers were good in the rain and gas mileage averaged 26-28 mpg. overall good trip and i dont think you need to be worried about much

I've had my '01 on two road trips over the past couple of months. One about 800 miles and the other about 1,950 miles. The car did great. The only downside might be the ride over poorly maintained highways... gets a little old after a while.

I did my usual pre-trip stuff - tires, check all fluids, wash, and wax. I checked the oil (via the dash gauge) with every fill-up. Averaged about 31mpg on the 800 mile trip and 32mpg (best of 33.7) on the 1,950.

I've done three 1600 mile road trips with no problems at all. The car was flawless, and incredible. Just check everything, and make sure you have the essentials. Like a tire change kit, inflated spare, first aid kit, etc.
