Your next dream car is.......
I am wondering if the 987 introduction has gotten you all hot and bothered, that is, do you HAVE TO HAVE ONE!
I know its early, but I am curious if the information we now have has you ready to spend?
Additionally, you guys with regular Boxsters, are you dying for an S, or are you simply waiting to buy a 911?
A lot can be learned from examining our dreams!

Well, my dream car has been and always will be a 911 (996) turbo, though I am curious to see what the 997 turbo will be like. If I had all the money in the world, I would choose this car over even the likes of an Enzo or Murcielago or any of the power exotics.
Considering I'm only 23 and just starting out in my air force pilot career, I doubt I'll be able to realize that any time in the near future.
So my "realistic" dream car is either a Boxster S or a 987, to be purchased once the 986 I've got is paid off and well-loved.
So I guess the answer to your question is "D - All of the above"

I think I'll be looking around for a 911 Targa with a manual shifter. Arctic Silver with red leather (just like my Boxster).
God willing I'll be able to keep both!

My dream cars have always been mid-engined Ferraris, but the cost of maintenance is just way too high. As soon as my Boxster is paid for I want to put a deposit down on a Beck 550 Spyder, and when the lease on my Jetta is up I'll be looking into a 2-3 year old Cayenne S.
An all-Porsche garage. What a nice thought

I've always liked ferrari 355's. They are relatively inexpensive as well for a newer ferrari. Many are on the market south of 80k.

mine is a 996 turbo or ferrari 360 spider.
the ferrair 355 is an amazing shape but too many replica models for under 7k kinds takes the pride away, everyone will say oh look another replica.
gotta say tho, nothing looks better than a red ferrari 360 spider softtop or a black 996 turbo hardroof
cant think of a better car to date.
Did you guys know that a EVO 8 can out accelerate a ferrair F40? CRAZY!

I lust for Ferrari cars. To me, they are the pinnacle of performance, style and heritage. Unfortunately, unless I become insanely wealthy enough to afford a $200K toy (and the appropriate house to go with it) I'll have to stick to "practical" sports cars.

Once i'm out of college, I would really like to buy the Maserati Quattroporte, (even though its a 4 Door Sedan) or else a 911 Turbo convertible... but i'd still keep my boxster!

I have had a 996 Turbo. That is a most impressive auto indeed. On rails and fast as spit!

Jeannot ,
This was at a rally I went to over the summer. It was Basalt Black on Black. Wow what an awesome looking car. I agree I want one. But I think my next vehicle is going to be a Cayenne S.

what a stunning machine!!!!!!!!!!
i fancy the new coptercar, faster than a ferrari F40 and can take off from a standing posistion. Reach 20,000 feet and runs on normal gas as a car would. It looks like a ferrair also.
they will start production in 2009 and will cost $110,000 USD
You wont need a pilot license just an upgraded car license.
never be stuck in traffic again, press a button and you rise 10 meters to clear you of any cars ect... then off you go,
25 miles to the gall, when in flight, 31 when driving...
Its already road legal.

Bruce, you asked what our dream cars were and if us "non S" owners wish we had an S.
I own a 1997 boxster and have seen all the pix of the new boxster S and I must say, it's very, very nice.
But, I'll be saving the 10K to swap out my 2.5 for a 3.4 to make one wicked fast sleeper... and it will be faster than the 987 too!

I also like the new S more and more each day. I've also been kind of looking at the Maserati Sypder. Ferrari engine, good looking if not boring, and with a resale value that's in the toilet

If you mean dream car I might actually get in the next few years it might be a boxtster or maybe a 911. I just ended up with a Lexus becuase it was a deal I couldn't pass up so I have put off my boxster wishes for a while but maybe in a couple of years that's what I'll end up with. Now I really really would love a Ferrari but I might just have to rent one to get the thrill of driving one.

The new 987 looks real nice. If they could just add 4 wheel drive plus 50 hp. That would be my ideal car! Handling I don't think you can ask for any better than a Boxster. Italian cars look real fine and their car designers are the best in the world by far but the quality and reliability of their cars are very suspect historically. From Fiat to Maserati they all become junkwagons. Let's not even talk about depriciation.
Boxster is a great everyday car; it has great speed, super handling and great looks. In summation why even look anywhere else! Porsche Boxster there is no substitute.

This is a nice idea. Is this a "bolt in" or a major recon job to accomplish?
