That's a good description of the sound. I believe I have the same one. It only starts when the motor is really warm, after 15 or 20 minutes of driving. That kind of limits poking around under the car to find it. I became convinced that there must be something loose inside the muffler. I traded for a used muffler and the noise was 90% reduced but came back with a vengence in a few months. I disected the old muffler but could not identify anything loose that might have caused such a noise.
