Help - Car won't start
Hi Guys
Jumped in my car this morning and the engine wouldn't start. A message on the computer asked me to put the car in Neutral or Park (It is a triptronic.) Obviously it was already in P, but I moved it to N, and no luck. I tried a few times in both N and P, and the message stayed on. Has anyone come across this problem before? Is there an easy solution, or am I going to have to get it towed to a garage? Obviously I would like to avoid this if possible. The car is a MY 55, 987 boxster S triptronic. Many Thanks J |
Since no one's chimed in yet, I'll try to pass on some insight. I'm new to Boxsters, but most all automatic transmissions have what's called a 'neutral safety switch'. It's a simple switch on the shifter that ensures the car is in Park or Neutral before allowing the starter to turn. (Just like the clutch switch on modern manual cars) Hopefully it's as simple as the switch. It could always be a relay problem or the input into the computer, but not as likely. I know on most older domestic cars, you can just jumper the switch out to test if that's the problem. As far as where to jumper it on a Porsche Tiptronic, that's over my head. Sorry I can't be of more help.
