Since no one's chimed in yet, I'll try to pass on some insight. I'm new to Boxsters, but most all automatic transmissions have what's called a 'neutral safety switch'. It's a simple switch on the shifter that ensures the car is in Park or Neutral before allowing the starter to turn. (Just like the clutch switch on modern manual cars) Hopefully it's as simple as the switch. It could always be a relay problem or the input into the computer, but not as likely. I know on most older domestic cars, you can just jumper the switch out to test if that's the problem. As far as where to jumper it on a Porsche Tiptronic, that's over my head. Sorry I can't be of more help.
