This is not for me. Although I am not a speed buster, torque is my pleasure.
A better measure of how good of a driver you may be has more to do with paying attention, how many times you swerve into other lanes, use your turn signal when changing lanes, merging, or hey... turning. Are you slower than everyone around you? Do you cross 3 lanes in a five foot distance to catch a turn you need? Or an even better measure - how many people around you [not you yourself] are hitting their brakes or swerving to avoid you. I commute only six miles to work, no highway, and everyday there is a remarkable experience that surges the pulse rate.

OK, what I really meant to say is: what a dumb idea.

I see a whole future generations who have been raised on "user friendly" technology jumping right on this. To others, it feels like an invasion of privacy. BTW, GM already has black boxes in your cars to track information in the case of an accident. Sure, for now the information "can't be used against you" but do you really expect it to stay that way? Oh yeah, and with the greenies pushing to get you out of old "guzzlers" and ozone depleters, we will someday be stuck in cars that drive themselves for you, since Mass Transit won't work everywhere... Sure I'm paranoid.. why aren't you?

There is already an 8 mile stretch of I-5 in California which has sensors imbedded into the pavement. Buick is currently testing prototypes communicating with these sensors to 'drive' the car - total lack of driver input.

For major expressways, this makes sense because through proper spacing and speed control, a lot of conjestion can be avoided or at least better managed. Of course, there is also a safety benefit to this as well.
