Watch out for the Silverstar bulbs.

Just a warning if you're thinking about using them. We had them in the Boxster for about a year and now we have nice, round, burned-in marks in both headlights from the high temps.

It sounds like you bought the wrong wattage
They can't be more than 55 watts (iirc) or you'll have burned lenses.

I'm pretty sure they were the right wattage, but I'll check as soon as I find the second bulb that wasn't burned out. One burned out so I replaced both when I saw the brown circle and kept the good one for one of my other cars.

Send a message via AIM to blinkwatt
I ran Silverstars on clear halogens for 4k and never saw any indications that anything was burning.

yea, i'd say check the wattage. anything over 55 watts will probably fry some wires.

i ran the silverstars for like 6 months without any problems, until i upgraded to my current 6500K HIDs

I used them and thought they were great. They are a lot brighter and more white than stock......then I saw the burn marks slowly apear I didn't notice them for about 6 months after.

No verification on wattage of these bulbs causing the discolouration?

Mine doesn't cause discoloration but I remember when I was ordering it, I almost ordered the wrong one and the guy corrected it. I just can't find the old shipping box and my original order that indicates the wrong one...

As soon as i find it, I'll post it up

Thanks man, the only reason I ask is to prevent others from making the same error because the lenses aren't cheap.

Personally, I think a proper HID kit is the way to go. There are some decent after market kits now that are small enough that they require no alterations to your car.
Tons of threads on this subject. (both here, renntech.org and PPBB)
