Want to Install Single DIN Alpine in 2005 987

Most people who convert want the double DIN. Well, I already have Alpine's best single DIN, the 9887, leftover from when I was going to put it into my old car. Then came the Porsche. The Alpine is iPod ready, and I don't care about navigation (anywhere I go in the Boxster is ok!) Obviously, I need a single DIN mount for the new unit. The eBay ones I've seen are double DIN. Worse, I'm in the middle of Missouri, would probably have to go to St. Louis or Kansas City to get this done right, esp. if it's a fabrication job. Also have some Polk doorspeakers and a better Alpine amp. I'm up for suggestions, and would appreciate any thoughts. My present setup is the upgraded non-Bose audio system, which if fair for an open car, but the head unit sucks, and I know the stock speakers can be improved. As best I understand, there's digital cabling in there, and I'd better find someone who understands all that.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

I'll let you know, Gary. Not getting any help here so far; I could keep the HU and just swap the amp & speakers. Email me in a week or so.

I don't know exactly how similar the 03/04 Boxsters are to 987s, but check the posting in this forum on AVIC D3 install in 03/04 Boxes.

It will give you a good idea of how to deal with MOST.
