Gearshift/transmission trouble

Hello,

160000 miles on my car and a problem has come up.
My gut says this is a minor problem I can fix real easy. But I will bounce it off of you guys to see what you think.

To described the problem in short it feels like something is in my shifter. When I change gears the car would slide in with no problem or force now i have to shove it, and use force. There is no grinding just force is needed now.

I have an aftermarket short shifter installed. Over 60k miles ago.

My 1st plan is to remove the boot this weekend and look and see if anything looks broken or loose. I hope thats what it is. What is your opinions??

The car drives fine, accelerates normal, no clutch slipping.

When is the last time you had the tranny fluid changed?

Check your linkage and cables. My guess is the plastic link that holds the cable in place has slipped causing the adjustment to be thrown off. Good luck

Blink the fluid was changed about 10k miles ago.

The linkage sounds right, because everything felt fine and then all of a sudden it was not right.

Can I check the linkage from removing the gearshift boot or is there somewhere else to look?

Does anyone have a picture of how it is suppose to look??

Thanks for everyones help.

Problem solved.

There was a loose nut in my assembly.
I will post pictures later today.
I looked around and I did not see anywhere it could have come from. I am yet to test drive the car but in the driveway moving through the grears they are like butter again.

The question is where did the nut come from????

There are two spots that probably came from. Either the handbrake lever or the shifter assembly, both are held down by nuts.

You'd need to remove the center console to find out though.

Heck maybe that nut was from something else not related to the car. Does the nut have the greenish tint stuff that most Porsche nuts have? Can you post a pic of the nut?

A few pictures.

One is where the nut was found, and the other 2 are to see if anyone can spot if I am missing something??

I test drove the car and everything seems just as it was a few days ago.
