Looks I would go with lowering springs

Performance exhaust.

But dont forget to desnorkel.

One of my favorite mods was changing my 968 4 spoke steering wheel for a fvd wheel. It may one of the most underestimated mods i have done.

Growing up the car magazines said how amazing Porsches are. Was I brainwashed? Somehow...I doubt it.

Gary, I'm surprised you didn't say "turbocharger."

That's the single greatest mod I would consider beyond a full engine swap.

The new issue of Excellence has a 986 GT3 swap. Not just the engine but just about everything you can jam into the Boxster.
Mixed reviews...suspension needs considerable tweaking as the bump in power unsettles the handling. And the cost was said to be so high that you could have bought a whole new 996 GT3.

anyhoo...

I have an 2000 S and beyond tires I haven't felt the slightest urge to invest any money on marginal speed gains. The car needs at least another 70-100 HP for me to consider dropping more than $7K on performance.

For looks I think 18" wheels and skirting bring the car closer to the original '93 concept car look. Without these the cars looks a little stripped to me. Ditto with the 996 Carrera. But its easy to go too far and put wheels that are too big and aero that doesn't blend in. For less $1K you can do skirting and I think Djomlas found a very nice set for under $2K. I think it makes the car look allot pricier.

Lowering springs for sure...but Gary in BR's pocketbook mod is sweet as well. Sorry Gary..had to say it...That wheel is awesome...where to buy?

each year i did one mod.....

year 1 - lowered car
year 2 - Rims
year 3 - Body kit
year 4 - xenons
next year - exhaust

i think lowering the car has to be the number one mod....it
changes the look of the car.
