masking tape for preventing rock chips on track day

I've seen a few cars prepared for track days with (what looks like)
masking tape all over the front grill areas. Sometimes the tape is
blue in color, but looks to be in large in width (e.g. 12 inches??).

Can someone clue me in on what this product is, and where to obtain it?
