wher does it attach to?

i bought a new gas cap, the previous one wasn't sealing right.
well the old one didn't have it, but new one does, im talking about the long rubber chord or whatever, it has a square at end of it with a hole trough it. dont know where it hooks up to.
any help or pic is appreciated

Under the hinge

Below the hinge to the gas flap on the hinge support bracket there should be a hole or black plastic push pin. The lanyard attaches to that spot with a plastic push pin. The lanyard allows you to hang the cap from the hook on the flap when refueling.

Hope this helps. I can prob get a pic tommorrow.
