Squeaky suspension??

Driving home from work this morning, I turned off the stereo so that I could listen to the beautiful sound of the engine...as you do

A noise I'd never noticed before while driving was coming from the front of the car, noticed it especially when driving at slower speeds...less wind noise etc. Sounded kinda squeaky/creaky, hard to describe really.

When I got home I popped the hood and pressed down on the front of the car, sure enough, the same sound was reproduced and I'm no mechanical expert but I'm pretty sure it's just coming from the suspension. When I pressed down on the car, it comes back up nice and quick, no bouncing or anything like that, but it does squeak a fair bit.

Is this "normal" or is it something I should get checked out? Is there something else it "could" be or is it nothing to worry about? Never had anything like this before with any other car I've owned...just looking for opinions/help, better to be safe than sorry!

Gord.

I had a nasty squeak in my 01S last spring. It was funny because if I washed my car or it was raining, the squeak went away. The dealer changed the lower control arm on the left front and the squeak went away.

Yup, lower control arm here too. Two of them actually. Squeaked like a giant rat with its tail on fire after it rained and the sun came out.

Steel on aluminum is the culprit.

See if an indy mechanic will put on a new one for you that you buy from Sunset. I had it done for about $300 driveout. Dealer wanted $800
