Center Console Lock Stuck Locked

So my center console latch is stuck locked.. I can't get it open for the life of me, and it has my sunglasses and iPod inside

Does anyone know what is involved in getting my stuff out, and fixing the issue so it doesn't happen again.

Thanks,
Eric

The key in the lock won't turn, or it turns and the console remains locked? Any chance it's overloaded and the pressure is keeping the lock from turning? If you haven't already, you might try pushing down on the console top while turning the key.

Just in case your key isn't engaging the cylinder properly, you might also try squirting a little WD-40 or similar lubricant in the keyhole.

The key goes in and turns a full rotation, 360 degree's around. I have a feeling it is totally broken, and I will replace the latch when I add a painted center console, but now I just really need to get my stuff out of there.

WD40 is interesting. I'll give that a try tonight.
