Coolent Level

I have a 2004 Boxster with about 1900 miles. I was reading about how you should check you coolent regularly, so I went out to check mine and I cannot see the coolent level at all on the readout. It is on level ground, even with a flashlight I could not see any coolent. How could I check to the level other than looking at the gauge? My tempuraure is generally just past 180 (just to the right of the 0) in 85 degree weather.

Your eyes must be even older than mine. I usually have to use a flashlight.

When the car is cold remove the blue cap and shine a light into the tank. See if that helps.

Would it hurt the car if I literally topped it off? Should I use the Porsche Coolent?

If the tank is low I just use plain water.
