California / Bay Area Peninsula - Mechanic recommendation?

I hope to soon be a first time Porsche owner. I found a 2004 Spyder that I like and I want to get a PPI on it. I also would like to find a mechanic I can build a trustworthy relationship with. Any advice will be appreciated.

Cheers!

Bay area mechanic

I had excellent luck with CT Automotive. Ask for Tony. He was extremely helpful and accomodating.

Good luck.

How long ago was that? I haven't heard great things about them of late, and my personal experience (~3 months ago) wasn't anything to write home about. They were easy to chat with though...

Your question is probably better suited for the babblers.
I like Don's Autowerks in Campbell, it's a bit of a drive from San Carlos (I live there too but Don is a great guy and I am very satisfied with him and his shop.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Let me know if you are up for showing your Boxster. It would be great to get you to share your experience as Porsche owner with me.

Thanks,
Mike

Chris, if I'm not mistaken, Don used to work at (maybe even own?) CT Automotive a while ago (when they had a good reputation).

Actually, it was about 3 months ago too...what problem did you have with them?

Lets see. They gave me three different price quotes (I called to confirm the appointment when I got the second quote, and so I called the third time just to be sure). Then, when I actually went there, they were handing over the keys to me without doing one of the work items - but they did promptly do it when I asked them about it. Finally, there were a bunch of things they listed as needing work on the car. When I asked them to price it, they said we don't do that.... (some of the items were cosmetic, but others weren't). They did ballpark it when I insisted.

So, as I said before, not what I'd call top-notch, but easy to talk to. Maybe I just caught them on the wrong morning.
