i just checked the manual, and you're right about the 292 vs. 299mm diameters. the thing is, i've compared S rotors to base rotors (back to back) and they look like they're identical in diameter. further, the calipers are offset from the hub exactly the same amount. see my post here:

the only difference in the rear calipers has to do with the guide pin offset. the guide pins can actually be removed and reset, so an S rear caliper can become a base rear caliper and vice versa.

agreed. the factory bias is heavily shifted forward. i used to run race pads only up front. i added high friction race pads to the rear (where i have the fat tires) and Gs went up significantly.

I can tell you that with my Pagid pads and hoosiers I can outbreak just about everything outside of cup car on the track. And this is in a 986S.
