mochoajr,

I don't think the price is unrealistic...

$33,790 KBB retail

$28,945 KBB private party

$26,015 KBB trade in

$31,500 ( road and track Nov 2007 article )

$22,198- $33,788 ( excellence magazine )

Based on the fact that it is Porsche Certified Pre-Owned , I would say the asking price is pretty good...

Nick

Looks like a good, fair deal to me too. It has some nice options, but it is lacking litronics which is a bummer.

Seems like a good deal not a great one. The market is a little soft right now. It is a good time to be buying as dealers want to unload inventory before the end of the year.

I agree, wait a month or two until it snows then check autotrader, I have already seen2008's offered at the same price as some used 05/06. If you don't have a trade in you have huge leverage, I would want a vehicle with less milage but that's just me.

Exclamation

I just bought a 45 000 mile 2000 Boxster S with a Porsche CPO warranty for 22 500$.

Keep that in mind when you shop around.

That price seems fair, but I wouldn't pay that much. If you get them down to $23k it would be a deal. And you might be able to since it is at a dealer. Just my opinion!

You're really gonna buy a car on Lemmon Avenue???? Isn't that asking the universe for trouble? What were these people thinking?

Looks like a pretty fair deal to me. I sure as hell would not sell my '03 S for that price.

jiminmsux,

Since the OP and the dealer are both in Dallas, I don't think snow will be much of an issue regarding price.

Jacques,

BIG difference between a 2000 and a 2003.

rick,

$23k ! Take a look at autotrader :

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=both&distance=0&address=60195&marketZipError=false&style_flag=1&make=POR&model=BOXSTE&make2=&start_year=2003&end_year=2003&min_price=&max_price=&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=60000&color=&keywords_display=S&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=y&default_sort=priceDESC&awsp=false&keywordsrep=083&keywordsfyc=__Uw%2C%2C__&systime=1195092050968

137 2003's between $23,900 and $40,900 ( ave price $31,936 )

Just trying to keep you guys honest...

Nick

Thanks for all the advice. It seemed to me a little high for the mileage. I'll keep looking around.

I think it seems like a nice car and a fair price if it's in good condition. I wish I had bought mine sooner! Every day I drive it I have a smile on my face, How much is that worth?

I know 23K is ridiculous, but it would constitute a steal. Personally, I am all about getting a great deal. The sticker price on the car seems fair, but I would still push the stealership for a lower price, even if you can't get it that much lower. They normally price with a bit of leeway for negotiation.
Best of Luck Getting a Good Deal!

rick3000 and djomlas hit the nail on the head - that's just the asking price. It's a buyers market right now. Go talk to them and find out what they'd be willing to take to move the car off their lot - you may be surprised by the answer.

Also, logon to galves.com and get their wholesale price for the car (there's a fee for this service, and no I'm not affiliated with them in any way). In my experience they provide the most accurate values for used cars. Use that value like you'd use the invoice price on the purchase of a new car.

Good luck in your search!

^ It depends on you.
I would prefer low miles over the year if it has been maintained. But a lot of people would go newer with higher miles because the newer models are less prone to some things like RMS failure and include things like a glove box. But a Porsche certified '01 would be worth considering depending on the price. I really like that one actually (but I like blue), you could probably get it for $24K.
