Opinion on price?

Anyone have an opinion on the mileage and price for this car?

Thanks, Marco.

mochoajr,

I don't think the price is unrealistic...

$33,790 KBB retail

$28,945 KBB private party

$26,015 KBB trade in

$31,500 ( road and track Nov 2007 article )

$22,198- $33,788 ( excellence magazine )

Based on the fact that it is Porsche Certified Pre-Owned , I would say the asking price is pretty good...

Looks like a good, fair deal to me too. It has some nice options, but it is lacking litronics which is a bummer.

steve00s 11-14-2007 01:00 PM

Seems like a good deal not a great one. The market is a little soft right now. It is a good time to be buying as dealers want to unload inventory before the end of the year.

I agree, wait a month or two until it snows then check autotrader, I have already seen2008's offered at the same price as some used 05/06. If you don't have a trade in you have huge leverage, I would want a vehicle with less milage but that's just me.

Jacques79 11-14-2007 02:45 PM

I just bought a 45 000 mile 2000 Boxster S with a Porsche CPO warranty for 22 500$.

Keep that in mind when you shop around.

rick3000 11-14-2007 02:51 PM

That price seems fair, but I wouldn't pay that much. If you get them down to $23k it would be a deal. And you might be able to since it is at a dealer. Just my opinion!

der Geist 11-14-2007 03:14 PM

You're really gonna buy a car on Lemmon Avenue???? Isn't that asking the universe for trouble? What were these people thinking?

Norminhouston 11-14-2007 04:26 PM

Looks like a pretty fair deal to me. I sure as hell would not sell my '03 S for that price.

NickCats 11-14-2007 05:14 PM

jiminmsux,

Since the OP and the dealer are both in Dallas, I don't think snow will be much of an issue regarding price.

Jacques,

BIG difference between a 2000 and a 2003.

rick,

$23k ! Take a look at autotrader :

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=&search_lang=en&page _location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type= both&distance=0&address=60195&marketZipError=false &style_flag=1&make=POR&model=BOXSTE&make2=&start_y ear=2003&end_year=2003&min_price=&max_price=&trans mission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=6 0000&color=&keywords_display=S&sort_type=priceDESC &body_code=0&certified=&advanced=y&default_sort=pr iceDESC&awsp=false&keywordsrep=083&keywordsfyc=__U w%2C%2C__&systime=1195092050968

137 2003's between $23,900 and $40,900 ( ave price $31,936 )

Just trying to keep you guys honest...

Nick

Thanks for all the advice. It seemed to me a little high for the mileage. I'll keep looking around.

mochoajr, now you have some good data and info, so now you can negotiate a better value proposition. Don't be discouraged.

funster 11-14-2007 06:04 PM

I think it seems like a nice car and a fair price if it's in good condition. I wish I had bought mine sooner! Every day I drive it I have a smile on my face, How much is that worth?

rick3000 11-14-2007 07:12 PM

I know 23K is ridiculous, but it would constitute a steal. Personally, I am all about getting a great deal. The sticker price on the car seems fair, but I would still push the stealership for a lower price, even if you can't get it that much lower. They normally price with a bit of leeway for negotiation.
Best of Luck Getting a Good Deal!

djomlas 11-14-2007 07:32 PM

its only the asking price guys.
go out there and talk to them, i talked a dealer down wayyy too much on my car, ridiculous, so don't be discouraged. :)

dkriebel 11-15-2007 04:35 AM

I just sold an 03S with 25,000 miles for 30K...could have got more , but she was good looking!

baseball 11-15-2007 05:41 AM

rick3000 and djomlas hit the nail on the head - that's just the asking price. It's a buyers market right now. Go talk to them and find out what they'd be willing to take to move the car off their lot - you may be surprised by the answer.

Also, logon to galves.com and get their wholesale price for the car (there's a fee for this service, and no I'm not affiliated with them in any way). In my experience they provide the most accurate values for used cars. Use that value like you'd use the invoice price on the purchase of a new car.

Good luck in your search!

Several threads recommend buying the latest boxer one can afford. Would an '01 Porsche Certified with 20k miles be worthwhile?

^ It depends on you.
I would prefer low miles over the year if it has been maintained. But a lot of people would go newer with higher miles because the newer models are less prone to some things like RMS failure and include things like a glove box. But a Porsche certified '01 would be worth considering depending on the price. I really like that one actually (but I like blue), you could probably get it for $24K.
