new to forum

Hello, I just purchased a '97 Boxster from a forum member and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dave and I'm a longtime aircooled Porsche owner, currently with a '78 911SC that I've parked for the season, a '65 911 that is in need of restoration, and the '97 Boxster that I plan to drive through the winter season, anxiously awaiting springtime and some top-down driving. I live in West-Central PA and the closest dealers are 100 miles west of me (Pittsburgh) and 130 miles east of me (Harrisburg) so I intend to do all of my own maintenance and repairs on the car, as I have always done on the SC. I have a fairly well equipped tool collection but would like to know if there are there any special tools I need to do routine maintenance? The car came with a Durametric tool, by the way, and I have loaded the software already. Thanks, and I hope to learn alot about this awesome car here.

Can't help much on the tool question but as an SC owner who's also recently made the jump to add a Boxster, congrats and be prepared for tons of fun on the new purchase.

Thanks Rich. I love my SC but to have heat, defrost, A/C, in a Porsche?? It's just not at all what I'm used to!

Congrats on the purchase!

The car is pretty much stock except for some sound equipment. It's Arctic Silver with black leather interior, in pretty good shape over all, runs very well. I think I'll have to fight off my wife to drive it since she seems to love it as much as I.

The tires were worn out so we have already installed new Michelin Pilot Sport Ribs on it and have a set of nearly new Blizzaks that came with it. Attached is a photo that the previous owner had posted when he was selling the car. Some of you may recognize it..................

I wasn't in the market really, but it was too good a deal to pass up. We're in the same SCCA region and he sent out an email to the membership. It just got me thinkin' ..................................... Now it's in my driveway.

Welcome.

Nice car collection -- you need to share some more details about your garage with us sometime...
