The headlights you see on djomlas' car are not clear, he painted the yellow part with silver paint. It's a nice look (IMHO) and the cheapest route to go. I didn't have any success with it though. I tested two types of silver paint on a spare piece of clear plastic and both blocked light transmission too much, even with thin coats. I've got some smoked tint paint (black, not silver) that worked fine on my sample though, but I still need to do the actual headlights. Others have done well with the black tint paint too. Regular tint film will bubble over plastic.

No, you can't just replace the plastics... it's been tried unsuccessfully.
