when i lived in orange county and had an even split city/hwy i was getting about 19-20mpg on a tank... now in san diego i'm getting about 15mpg per tank, but i'm never on the highway for more than an exit. on long trips, going 80 with the top down i average 24-25mpg.

CJ - You can always be boring like I am and just do the math... "I traveled X miles on this tank/it took Y gallons to fill up this tank = " Keeping track of your MPG is a good way to find out about problems ahead of time, if you have a serious drop in MPG for the normal amount of driving, something is happening.

I have gotten 24-26 mpg consistently using the "math" way. No OBC (yet.... poser alert). The best I got was 26-27 on the drive from san jose to big sur (and back).

Worst - 24.30
Best - 27.10
Car: 01' regular tip. I would imagine a brand new 2.7L MT could hit 34-35 mpg.

Ive once gone 400 miles of highway on one tank, full to empty, lol. Ummm, and I think Ive gone like 200 miles full to empty when I drive really really hard. How bigs a tank? I usually put 14 or 15 gallons in.

I drove 1500 miles this week, almost all highway. I traveled very consistantly at 78 mph. I first went through a tank of gas with the top up and got 28 mpg (its painful to drive 300+ miles with the top up). I then went through a tank of gas with the top down and got 25 mpg.
I dont have a computer in the car to give readouts on mileage at different speeds. For those of you that do, what highway speed gives the best mpg? I am wondering what I would get if I drove, say 60 or 65 mph on the highway. Its never going to happen, I was just wondering.

bmussatti mileage
Dear bmussatti,
you said:"I get about 20-24 MPG. Top down, Sport Chrono on, and spirited driving."
As I said, I only get 18mpg based on the readout with the same car. Under "settings - consumption" I have selected "miles/gal." But there is setting called "mpg UK"; if yours was set to this - the larger Imperial gallon - that would explain your better milage. Can you check?
