Post Replacement AC Climate Switch Display

My LCD display for my AC Climate control has a damaged screen. (looks like it got hit hard by something and it works, just looks a little shotty) - I was trying to find out what the true replacement part was for it. It appears the the same climate switch was used for the 996 and 986, is this true?

The part number I have found is:
996 653 101 03

but on pelicanparts that part # comes up as for a Boxster S from 97-01. With my S being a 02, I just wanted to make sure it was going to fit OK.

So, if anyone knows if this part # is correct or has an extra used in great shape, let me know. BTW, does anyone have any docs/info on how to properly remove the trim to get this installed properly????

Thanks,
M

Try searching, this came up a while ago, and I think it was going to cost like $400 because you have to by a whole new AC. The guy found someone on ebay selling just the screen, with instructions. It was a lot cheaper to fix.

And yes most 986 and 966 interior parts are the same.

This is somewhat related, and I apologise for posing an additional question here, but is there a way to program the climate system so that the default status when the car is started is "off"? I normally don't use the system, and it's a bit bothersome to have to turn it off every time I get in and start the car.

You might be able to program something like that with a dealers PSII system, but I am pretty sure there is no way for the consumer to do it by just holding down a few buttons. If you want more info on the AC's secret controls check out cb-racing.com
