I had my heart set on 4 different Boxsters before I finally got mine. I was close to buying a 2000 base model with dings on it, then a 2001S with an iffy history, then a 2002S with tons of extras, the 2003 base model with 5kmiles and finally the well equiped 03 S. All for approximately the same price! I just learned the market as I was searching. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
