Price $26k + $1.4k($1.7k) 3(5) year extended warranty from an independent car place.

Anything see anything wrong with that? I know the price is kind of high but the cost of the warranty drops the overall price.

Eh.... remember, it only costs about a grand to ship a car anywhere. I know you can find a better car elsewhere, ship it, and still be under that price, with a warranty.

If it's a good car, then that seems fair to me. Warranty price seems low for the duration. What does it really cover? What does it exclude? Deductable? I'm guessing it's worth considering skipping the warranty.
As for the price being high. I don't know. FWIW, a friend sold his '01 S w/19K miles (base 'S', no litronic, etc.) back in early June for $28.5. Given that, as I said, the price seems fair to me...then again, I haven't really looked around to see what else is out there.

				Looks ok to me

The three conradtan posted are simliar in price to what mine was a few months ago. The arctic silver one looks exactly like mine....excluding that my wheels aren't quite as shiny =)

do a search with the Better Business Bureau on the warranty company. Most of these operations are **************** shows. I had one with CWS and set up a payment plan. Good move not to pay it all up front because after they denied a claim for a $4 parking brake switch (plus $120 in dealer labor) I canceled the contract. This was a warranty company that was affiliated in some way with CarFax.
Call up the warranty co. and ask them if they are owned by a insurance company or if they are squarely independent.

As for the car, it looks nice but it sounds like they have built in a good amount of negotiating space into the price. My advice, if the dealer is local, check out the car go and on about Boxsters and your Porsche knowledge and then walk out of the dealer saying that your checking out two other cars but you are very interested in this one. DON'T tell him that you will call him in X amount of days, better yet don't set up any expectations whatsoever. Before you leave ask him when they got the car in. Shake hands and say buh bye...... Wait at least 5 days, call him out of the blue and offer him the absolute lowest you think he will agree to. Don't worry about offending him that's his job. He'll probably counter and then you tell them you have to check with your fiance when she gets back from work later that night. Call them the next day with another low counter offer. Each time say you have to check with your fiance. The point is if you intend to buy any car you visit DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT buy it the day you check it out for the first time. Each day that goes by is $$ in your pocket and extra **************** his sales manager is giving him for not selling.
If you come to an agreement set up a PPI and you find anything wrong deduct that from the agreed upon price. 9 times out 10 they will cave.

Is it the sun's reflection, or did the rear plastic window appear to be a bit hazy on the white boxster? The price seems higher than usual for the car. Here is another local (Campbell) dealer who specializes in used p-cars (no affiliation) : http://www.import-connection.com/
They seem to have two cars that meet your criteria:
1. 2001 Porsche Boxster S ($26.5)
Loaded silver on black, Sport touring package, PSM, Digital Hi-Fi sound with CD changer, Xenon headlight package, 18" Turbolook wheels, O/B Computer, Aluminum instrument, Cruise, Keyless entry, Alarm, One owner, Local Ca car, New clutch, New brakes, New tires, 60k service done, Excellent condition. 47k miles.

2. 2002 Porsche Boxster S
Nice arctic silver on black with black top, Sport package, PSM (Porsche Stability Management), Hi-Fi Sound with CD player, 18" Turbolook wheels, Aluminum instrument, Air deflector, Keyless entry, Alarm, Books, Lease return, Ca car, Clean title, Non smoker, Excellent condition. 45k miles.

My 2002 Boxster S with 23,500 miles cost me $27,500 back at the first of August. It is in outstanding condition. I can't emphasize this point too much: DON"T GET IN A HURRY". Good cars will always be out there.
 Good luck on your search.

It's all about finding the right car for an individual's tastes. Finding that right car is possible but sometimes that means paying a little more than it would for another if you weren't as selective. Ex. silver cars are a dime a dozen. However, if you must have white, then there are fewer options and it will require more patience to find that right car.

BTW: ddb, in case I haven't said so lately, I really like the looks of your car.

Thanks for the links guys. I'm shooting for sub 40k mileage,Litronics + heated seats are now a NEED,no longer extra. This white one is looking more and more tempting.

Robert, I forgot to mention one thing I'd noticed with the white car. I'd seen a 99/00 (can't recall what year) boxster with the porsche factory nav, and while most factory navs go for ~$2k, I would have paid to get that one removed. It had no maps, just leds showing what direction to take etc... totally weird, useless and a waste of $. I know that porsche updated their navs at some point, but I don't know exactly when.

So, make sure that either the nav is the newer (useful) one, and if it isn't then don't add that as an option you are paying for.

PS: No offense to anyone that has the older nav in their car - my 01 acura also came with the factory nav, which I use to this day. It is light years ahead of the nav I saw in that 99/00 boxster. Porsche should've done a better job with that option.

That's why it's not a selling point but rather an added bonus. Aren't the software updates available on CD to update it?
