My honk stopped working

Is this a common problem? It is funny my gf's car's honk stopped working, too.

I believe there is a fuse for your horn. Check it.

The honk when you lock the car?

My honk works only half the time when I lock it... anyone know why?

BMX, the car honks when locked when the oddments tray cover (cubby in the center console under your elbow) is not completely closed or one of your trunks is ajar.

Of course, if you have an aftermarket radio in the car and they didn't ground out the security wire, as was in the case for my car, it will beep every time the remote is used to lock the car.

...and I like that. In a large, noisy city like Houston, I can't hear the locks click and I often don't watch the headlights.

Really? Your car honks when you lock it? What year car do you have?

My 2000 S just flashes its lights when I lock it, no honk. The only thing I hear is the turn signal relay clicking and the doors locking.

So you're not horny and your gf isn't horny either... I'm sorry.

Seriously though, yeah horns can stop working for several reasons. First I would check the fuse. Then I'd check the horn relay and test it. Then I'd try applying power directly to the horns and see if they work. If all of that fails, then you probably have a broken clock spring inside the steering wheel. These do tend to fail over time and is probably the most likely problem if the fuse is still good.

I have a 2000... It honks every other time when I lock it. But I never have anything ajar either when it makes that sound... kinda wierd.

Do you think the broken cover on the arm rest might be the reason? Or a bad switch somewhere in one of the trunks...
I do notice a trunk light on the dash sometimes when I know they are closed...

p.s sorry for hijacking the thread

YES to one or more of these, especially if you have a factory radio installed in the car.

My 'honk' still works great! Usually just need to press it, rub it, or look at something provocative and there it goes! I'm actually looking into ways to make it last even longer (maybe push harder or something?). Some say upgrade to one of those giant ones that ricers all lust after, I think I like mine just good sized and reliable. I hear some people wish something more would come out when they used it, girls just give them strange looks. But ladies that's just the way it was made, it's not about the honk, it's what it's attached to...

My other honk works good too

Oh right... When I lock my car, the honk still works. Hopefully just the fuse is bad just like RandallNeighbour said. thanks :-)
