Cool My failed transmission saga comes to an end

So after 3.5 weeks without my Porsche I finally got it back. My transmission was indeed failed at 22K miles. It had lost 1st and second. After the cost analysis was made, Porsche decided to replace it with a new one. Result? Car is better than ever and the shifts are now smooth and precise as should be. I still have a fear of engaging second and hearing grinding sounds. Overall this was not a fun experience but it was worth it. The car is much better now. The total bill? $5,850... My, am I happy I bought a CPO car... I faxed Porsche NA my rental car bill and hope they will reimburse me as the dealer did not provide a loaner.

Well, a $6K tranny for a $60K car...sounds 'normal' to me. Is this common...I don't think so. Expensive? Yes, very.

Yes, the transmission cost was $4900. Then add labor and the bill was
just under $6000. They estimated that with the damage it had, a rebuild
would have cost more because of labor.
A failure this severe at such low mileage must be due to low quality
problems. Hopefully this is not too common. I have however found
several accounts of the same including some on this board.
After this, I don't think I am likely to ever own a Porsche outside of a
warranty...

There are no cheap fixes for the Boxster drivetrain.

Glad you had the CPO.
