are 19s too big?

Before getting my 19's, I thought they were too big. If the style of my 19's were available in 18 inch I would have probably gone with 18's, or even 17's if they made them. Having said all of that I'm thrilled with the 19's and wouldn't have it any other way.

My rear tires are 265/30/19. A lot of people recommend larger rear tires - 275 or 285, but I was warned to stick with the 265's and they work fine.

Good luck with that decision. I've been looking since I got my Box. Every time I think I've picked one out, I find something else I like better. If I had the coin to drop on HRE's the decision would be simple.

I currently have the 19" HRE 540s(3 piece). Im happy with the fit, ride, and the look. Not to hijack this thread but IMO, id stay away from multi piece wheels. I think monoblocks(1 piece) wheel designs are far more durable for everyday driving. Ive bent those wheels a couple times now and im just tired of the headaches. The wheel repair guy is actually contemplating on welding the internal seams to prevent future leaks. I live in SoCal and im very carefull when i drive, but you cant just get lucky everytime.
I dont track the car thats why weight is not a factor for me, i dont mind heavier monoblocks.
I have 19" BBS Starform monoblocks on my 92 911 Turbo, never have i bent those wheels.
Just my 2 cents.

I have the 19' wheels on my S. I love the way they look, get lots of positive comments, wouldn't change them The rear tires are 265/35/19.

Go for the 18's, unless you are made of money, its expensive enough to pay for the 18's. The other reason to consider 19's if you are doing some serious track work and want that short, stiff sidewall. I am not sure how much harsher the 19's are, but I could tell the difference going from 17's to 18's, just my two cents,

19's, Its a factory size even. It really does look good. But its all up to you. Its not like my car looks good or anything...

I will be honest, I have been saying that 19z are the way to go. but i think 18z would be the smartest. i think 19z are too big, and if i had put 18z i would of
never of seen a real big difference. performance - i feel like the 19z pull me back alittle. they are fairly light rims. if you stay with a 265, and a rim width below 10" you will not have to put a spacer. i have 275 because they fit better on a 10.5"width rim. i woiuld stay with a track size tire. 18/30/265 10" width light weight you won't lose any performance. i went too big and now regret it. if tomorrow i decide to track the car, my rims and tires are too big for my 2002 base 225hp car.....19/30/275 with a 10.5 width rim. i say go 1inch above stock, look under your gas cap!! does not mention a 19 inch rim for a reason.

ohhhhhh and don't forget to buy a rim with atleast a 3inch lip....the lip makes the car look really mean!!!!! changes the look of the car from the front! you need a deep dish rim!

Hey dj, I would consider how small the stock brakes will look with 19's. I have considered 19's too and just can't imagine how tiny our brakes will look. If you're thinking of adding "S" or 996 brakes down the road, I would go for the 19's. If not, I would stay with the 18's. Also remember, with bigger rims comes extra weight = slower car
Things to consider, but any way you go, I hope they're Black, and we see em soon!
