CEL diagnosis = "weak O2 sensor." Will it affect performance?

Or will it just result in the car not passing smog? Is this something that should be replaced right away, or can I wait up to a week until I get a few free days and can leave it at the repair shop?

they won't pass you on the smog test if you have a cel on....go to pep boys and have them reset the cel so you can smog...you can also clean the sensor, reconnect, clear the code and see if it comes back...

My Weak O2 didn't result in a CEL

It did throw a code when queried and that is how the smog is done in many states.

An O2 sensor is something you can DIY if you can get the car up in the air. Instructions and parts lists at my web site

I am curious too if it will effect performance?? I am on the verge of putting headers on my car and will probably have CEL issues due to o2 sensors. How does the ECU react to o2 sensor readings out of parameters?
