Alternator/Mechanic Question

Just fulfilled my dream of getting a 2001 986 S with 36,000 miles on it. Nearly perfect, I thought! Just replaced the original battery and on the way home last night the ABS and Airbag warning lights came on. The headlights also went out with about 2 miles to go to reach home, thankfully we live in northern Michigan where there is little traffic and we were also aided by a full moon.

The nearest Porsch dealership is about 180 miles away. Does anyone know of anyone that works on Porsches in Northern Michigan. We live near Charlevoix.

This sounds like an alternator problem, however, I was wondering if there may be other causes to my problem.

Thanks for any advice that you may have.

Bernie
