What are the requirements to get on the track?
Is this a yearly event? If we can't make it this year do you think it will be up and running next year? If I'm a SVR(Sacramento PCA) member is it possible I can sit in someone's car going around the track?

There are none - these are parade laps.
Show up with a 4-wheel vehicle. Pay $10 entrance fee. Donate $20 to go on the track. And have fun.
Lineup and when the flag drops you go on the track. Here we are in the lineup.

What exactly are parade laps? Are they fast paced?

The Pace/parade laps we were running were not more than 70 mph on the straightaways. Any faster and they may black flag you off the course.
I've done this annual event for the last four years, it's a lot fun and plus the money you donate goes to a worthy charity.
Let's all go on a group drive down to Laguna Seca and do the parade laps!

Just got back from the Monterey Historic Races in Laguna Seca. I can't wait to actually get on the track again.
Lets all meet at the Albertsons, on 129 Bernal Rd. in San Jose it's right next to Starbucks.

Yeah dude you can do the parade laps you can just show up as far as I know. I'd LOVE to do that, but Monterey is a 3+ hour drive for me. It's not worth it just to take a couple of laps around the track.
I want to do the Short Track Series were an instructor is in the car with me teaching me how to drive the track. That has been booked since mid July! I'm wayyyy toooo late. :troll:
Next year though,next year.

Here's the information on the Porsche Owners Club event:
http://www.porscheclub.com/events/EventCalendar/SE67-Info.html
There's a $10 paddock entrance fee and the $20 donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the parade laps on the track.
In past years we all met up at the Albertsons on 129 Bernal Rd. at 9:00 am. We leave by 9:30 am for a 2 hour scenic backroads drive to Laguna Seca.
Here's the route: http://hverheyen.vssi-eda.com/box_pics/laguna_seca/index.htm
It not just about doing a couple parade laps on the track, we're helping out a worthy charity and doing a nice backroads drive.
Come on Gerry and everyone, lets go cruzin.......

Annual Freeway Queen Parade Laps @ Laguna Seca
Today, I scouted out the backroads route we will be taking on Aug. 25th (Saturday). It's a very scenic route and I highly recommend everyone join us on the drive to Laguna Seca.
Here's the information for the backroads drive to Laguna Seca and parade laps:
http://www.porscheclub.com/events/EventCalendar/SE67-Info.html
There's a $10 paddock entrance fee and the $20 donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the parade laps on the track. There is no registration, permit or special license required to participate in the parade laps.
We will meet up at the Albertsons on 129 Bernal Rd. San Jose at 9:00 am. Remember, we will leave at 9:30 a.m. sharp for a 1.5 hour scenic backroads drive to Laguna Seca. Maps and directions will be provided the day of the event (9:15am drivers meeting).
It not just about doing a couple parade laps on the track, we're helping out a worthy charity and doing a nice backroads drive.
Come on everyone, lets go cruzin for a great cause!
If you are coming, please send an email to kekoa63@yahoo.com along with your screen name and car that you are bringing:
1. Toolpants - 1997 Boxster
2. Duster - 2000 Boxster
3. Gerry - 2000 Boxster
4. Fast00 - 2000 996

If you are meeting at the Albertsons shopping center in San Jose and not at the track then we need to leave on time for Laguna Seca, or we will miss the event.
In the shopping center is a Starbucks, McDonalds, and a gas station. We group near McDonalds but not right in front of it.

It was great meeting you guys -- toolpants, duster, unclekraker/gerry (one and the same, yes?). The drive to laguna seca was very nice, laps were good (~11 laps, double of the number of laps from prior years, I'm told).
We also had lunch at a nice little mexican place (Sarita's?) on the way back. Duster, I still don't know how you got that name -- next time
