Dealership Detailing

I won a full detail package at the grand opening of a new Porsche dealership facility here in Houston a while back.

Well, I took the boxster in last Tuesday for them to clean it up, thinking my detail work was as good as theirs. NOT.

They dismantled the interior of my car to shampoo the carpets. They removed the seats, tore down all the carpets on the engine compartment and shampood those too, and took a Qtip and went through the entire interior. The insides of the car look amazing!

The only thing I think they could have done a better job of was swirl removal on the paint. My Menzerna products, plus my Klasse AIO and then carnauba seems to provide a much better shine and remove the swirls.

All in all, it was worth two trips to the dealership to drop it off and pick it up. I never thought the interior of my now 11 year old boxster could look, feel and smell this new.

I am happy and surprised you had good results at the dealer. I work for a large auto group and the detail department consists mainly of slackers and high school kids that barely get the dirt off the car. Their idea of a full detail is cleaning the mats, shining the dash and putting so much drippy tire dressing on the car it will leave a trail all the way back to the owners house.

The last time I had my car done, they locked the key in it and damaged my trunk lid causing me to have to repaint it.

It has become theraputic for me to spend a few hours cleaning the box on my own!

May be it's a new dealership so they want to do that to attract more people because I've never heard of such dealership going to all that trouble for detailing the interior of a car. At least I know for sure here in N. Cali, no dealership would do that no mater what kind of car you own.
