Plastic oil-filter container...?!

When I changed oil yesterday, it struck me that the oil-filter container thingee is plastic. Is that the same for all Boxsters? If so, I wonder why Porsche would stoop that low.

By the way, I also mounted some new rear Hankook 104 rubber (285/30/18), using my friend's motobike tire machine -- thought I was about to die, (my body still aches). Although it's kind of fun to do it myself, I think next time I'm having some tire shop do the work.

It is plastic on all the Porsches. There is a paper filter inside the plastic cannister. Other cars have this design as well. It is part of the ecology thing. You throw away the filter but reuse the cannister.
