Sorry to hijack your post slightly, but I have an 02 Boxster S and had the same reception problem you mentioned after replacing it with my aftermarket JVC KD-AVX2 unit. What did you do to fix the reception issue?

your radio should have an antenna out lead (or another 12v switched). connect this to the white wire in the porsche harness--it's in the black connector i believe. there is also a white speaker wire, which should be obvious as it's with all the other speaker wires and is paired with a white/black wire. hth, though i still haven't received a response to my other questions--anyone know the answers?
