When you're out with your GF/wife...

Here's yet another of my scientific plebiscites.

You forgot one... "She cannot drive stick and trying to learn is worse than bull riding."

Brucelee 07-11-2007 08:04 AM

How about "Women are inherently unqualified to drive a Porsche?" :D

Or how about "Misogynous Americans who have self-esteem issues"..?

How about men who are intimidated by their women? :D

Nice poll..... NOT! *LOL*

On behalf of my wife (who also hold down a job and votes), I'd like to give it, 2 fingers up:

We don't allow this type of emoticon on the site.

Thanks for sharing.

"We don't allow this type of emoticon on the site."

Sorry, didn't know the site only allowed women-bashing and off-colour humor-related innuendo. :D

I second that. My girlfriend likes my car, but I dread teaching her how to drive a stick with my car. So it's a no go for me. I always drive. Maybe one day she can buy a Tiptronic. ;)

Grizzly 07-11-2007 10:15 AM

My car is my wife's car. I'm lucky that she lets me drive it.

Well, my GF rides a Triumph 675 sportsbike, drives a stick Mitsubishi, and pilots helicopters... and she's kind of cute too -- hence, I voted "I always let her drive my Porsche because I'm a wuss."

(btw, here's she preparing for a modeling job: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuB1cyjmkzg )

I guess you did not see the grinning emoticon in my post. This is inserted to suggest that the post was IN JEST!

I guess bashing is in the eye of the beholder? :D

Now, would I take the following choice as men bashing?

I always let her drive my Porsche because I'm a wuss

Call me slow...I just dont get the point of this???

Perfectlap 07-11-2007 10:50 AM

you mean there are women who are able to drive a manual transmission?

learn something new everyday...

p.s.
I know one girl with a stick shift (mini cooper) I always ask her to let me drive and she always insist I do the same with the Boxster....grrr.

is that you helping her get ready? ;) seriously, very nice indeed.

insite 07-11-2007 11:00 AM

as for the GF driving the porsche? well, i tought her to drive stick on it. then, we got her a G35 coupe. now we're teaching her to drive the porsche on the race track. suprisingly, she's fairly quick already!

funny thing is she scares the hell out of me on the street because she seems absent minded. on the track, though, i feel safe with her behind the wheel. i guess speed really does make people focus...

No, that's Helimot himself (the leather manufacturer), I'm the guy shooting that dinky video. If you haven't seen those yet, here are two more of those silly videos:

It starts at the top of the page and extends to the bottom....

Check your posts -- I did the grinning emoticon, too; thus I do grasp the meaning (you'll note, however, I did not feel the need to capitalize).

I guess I see no place for comments or polls that, even jokingly, that simply degrade woman as being poor drivers or those that assert one is not a "man" should he treat his g/f/wife as... dare I say... equal? Of course, now we know where you stand, and likewise where I do. ;)

See, I used a[(n) approved] "winking" emoticon. I wonder what I mean... :D

pointless indeed...

Anyway, the Boxster is my daily driver, I'll let her drive if she wants to but she rarely asks (might have something to do with the fact that one of the first times she did she backed into a concrete pillar...) When we autocross it certainly is 50/50, in fact she likes autocrossing the boxster more than our miata which is our primary autox car.

I agree -- the point is as pointless as commenting on this thread.

"I agree -- the point is as pointless as commenting on this thread."

I disagree -- commenting on this thread could serve to build better relationships between the genders and dispel myths surrounding women as being:

(1) Incapable of driving stick
(2) Poor drivers

Perhaps, people make these threads/polls to dispel myths that the Boxster is a "woman's car" and settle personal feelings about not being able to afford an 911? ;) :D

Just to clarify: I'm rolling my eyes at the thought of this post, winking suggesting that I'm being jest-ful and smiling and the full display of my witty-ness. :o

So what's your point?

unklekraker 07-11-2007 12:25 PM

Im just as lucky as Grizz that has a wife who owns the boxster and let me take it on autocross and local boxster gathering once a month

Peer 07-11-2007 12:26 PM

cfos wrote:

Yes, I agree, (but only because my gf force me to).

-- peer

cfos 07-11-2007 12:27 PM

Not to trump Grizz or unkle, but my Boxster was a gift to me from my wife -- for our first anniversary. She gave me the manual (paper-- keeping with traditions) and told me to go pick out options. Hmmm... maybe THAT is why I have a better appreciation of wives/g/fs...

cfos 07-11-2007 12:28 PM

"Yes, I agree, (but only because my gf force me to)."

*L* and here I was wondering what happened to "Nurse Ratchet"!

unklekraker 07-11-2007 12:31 PM

I bought her the box coz' thinking to get a 95-97 993 or somwhere in the line of 911 family but the more i drive it the more i'm longing for a boxster s or Cayman :o
I think I'll steal it off her hand :D :D :D

but cfos..you have a very generous wife! congrats :)

cfos 07-11-2007 12:35 PM

Thanks unkle -- she's pretty good. She tells me if I "want" kids we could upgrade to a 911, "because it has a backseat", although if we watch Casino Royale a few more times I think I can talk her into an Aston (some of them also have backseats). :D

Okay, not to trump you either (since it was your anniversary), but I can tell this story again, my very decisive GF actually bought me my Boxster (from some lady in Beverly Hills) and then drove it up to Bay Area & delivered it at my doorsteps -- she just knew that I wanted it, no question asked.

I'm sure there are some clauses involved, but who cares... she's a hottie.

pierre shags 07-11-2007 02:17 PM

attitude adjustable?

My wife likes my Boxster because its a convertible, noticed right away how much more stable it is than the Miata I had, and being a capable person generally can deal with a gear shift. But she cares nothing for speed, straight or curved. Really does not see the point, considers it man-child weirdness, a waste of money.

Has anyone gotten a woman with this attitude to change, and appreciate the car by, for instance, taking her to an AutoCross?

Peer 07-11-2007 02:33 PM

Well, as I stated earlier, my GF is a freak -- she not only pilots helicopters but also takes her moto-bike regularly to the race track. Hence, I voted "I always let her drive my Porsche because I'm a wuss."

Well I traded in my now ex-wife for the Boxster and so far it has been alot less expensive. :D

Yep! See my post above. When I mention I am buying something for our autox car, she always asks will it make us go faster? If it's not a go-fast part she does not approve :D
