Good Economic Tire?

thx a lot for posting up about those, i read a lot of reviews on those last night, and they seem to be pretty good darn tires, especially for the price.
im veryyy close to completely wearing out my tires, so i might get a set of those in the near future.

Agree - Sumitomo is great for the $$
Road trips, Ax, DE 10K miles still look like new
AND, look like high $$ tires to the unknowing folks

Strongly recommended. Till date, they are the best street tires i've ever used.

Also agree not to save money on tires, since they are the only four friction pts that sticks your ride on the road.

agree that the AD07's are great tires. they were my favorite until i tried the potenza RE-01R's. either way, though, the AD07, like any extreme performance tire, doesn't last that long. it's the trade off to the superior performance.

its weird, i dont look at tires as any kind of fashion statement or anything like that. as long as they are sticky, last long, and are not loud, i dont care what it says on them or who makes them.

I dig my Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's. They just added the Pole Position name to better market these tires. They are not too expensive but they are not cheap either. A lot of Carreras come stock with the same RE050A's

Those are the ones I have in the front, a pair of 245/35/18 that I payed only $215 for, including shipping -- and I'm quite happy with them.

When I purchased my 2002 Boxster S in April it had 17" Sumitomo HTR Z II tires that needed replacing. I had never heard of them but after checking out several websites and reviews I ordered a set from Tire Rack, the total for all four plus shipping was $343. My other car is a Lexus RX 300 and I drive a Dodge Stratus (drool) for my work car and the Sumitomos are not any louder than the tires on the other vehicles and are a hell of a lot grippier, plus, they look great. If you're only going to get 12 to 15 thousand miles out of a tire why pay double or triple the price. Most of that money is to pay for blimps and other advertising anyway. And how many of us actually drive in excess of 140 mph for long distances? I notice you are from the great north, will you use your car in the cold months? If so, these are summer tires. Good Luck
P.S. I ordered my tires from Tire Rack on a Sunday and had them by Tuesday, good distribution network.

I run the Kumho Mx and I think it is an excellent tire. It just so happens to cost less money. It hs a 220 wear rating and it sticks I think better than the Michelin PS2. Not all Kumhos are the same, The Mx is light weight as well. Tire Rack lists it in their extreme performance category. For a car that handles so well, I think that this tire is the best.

Generally the Pirelli PZero's are the best performance tires you can buy. They just came out recently with their next generation design. There an all summer and all year verisons. These are what normally come on Ferraris and Lambos, I havn't checked on the prices but I'm sure they're not cheap but probably the best you can buy.

I'll second the Kumho SPT. Not the best performing tire I've had on my car, but probably the best all-around value. Keep in mind, I've had ten different tire brands on my A4, and maybe 13 or 14 sets of tires. Also, the Yoko ES100 is a great tire. The ES100's successor, the S.drive, will be available in the U.S. in a month or two. That will probably be my next tire.
